I normally don’t post on my website about my personal life. However, today I would like for you to find out more about me and why I love photography so much that I went into business. So far, 2015 has been not been kind to me. I know that a lot of people have their own struggles; personal or professional wise. This year has hit rock bottom for me, because my best friend and confidant has passed away last month; my beloved mom. Saturday mornings is the hardest for me to cope with this loss. You see, we used to talk every Saturday morning. It was/is hard for me to be 6,000 miles away from her and my entire family. My mom always knew how to cheer me up.
Last year, I was blessed by her to attend her 75th birthday. She sent me money for a plane ticket and we had 8 great days together. I am so, so glad that I did go to Germany to celebrate with her and my family. Unfortunately I did not get a good photo with her while I was there in 2014. I photographed her during our birthday celebration. This is how she always was; laughing and having some fun with her family (1st photo).
At the beginning of 2015 my mom lost a lot of weight, and my sweet sister finally convinced her to see a doctor. Unfortunately, my mom had cancer and it had already spread through her entire body. The main cancer was in her stomach that is why she had issues eating. In addition to the cancer my mom suffered a stroke while in the hospital. My sister moved her to the care facility she works at. My mom wanted to see me again, so I flew out in April. I was so shocked when I say her. The weight loss and the stroke left her in a wheelchair. I am glad my sister took the photo of my mom and me (it took me 3 months to format it - 2nd photo).
Why am I sharing this with you today? Because I want to make sure that you have plenty of photographs with your children. Record the happy days with them. Your kids will thank you for that later in life. Trust me. If you don’t want to hire a professional photographer, have a family member or friend photograph your family. And if you photograph with your phone, make sure you back them up AND print a little book as your keepsake.
The photographs I have with my mom are on film, but I treasure each one of them. Now I just have to sit down and scan them so that I have them on a hard drive. Please, be in the frame with your children.
Thank you for stopping by today.
