Same set-up - 3 Different Lenses

My love for food photography has grown over the years. My hope is that I may work with a restaurant or small food business in the near future.

One of the things I love doing is, once I have a set-up that I really like, photographing with different lenses. I loved this particular set-up with the colors and the subject. Although I know how to work with artificial light, my preferred light is still natural light.

The first image I took with my new Canon 100-mm macro lens. Many people think that you can only use macro lenses for macro images, but I personally love to use it for close-up food photography.

The next image was taken with a more creative approach. I have been a huge fan (and since last year an ambassador) of Lensbaby lenses. I used the newest lens, the 50mm Double Glass II. If you ever in the market for a creative lens, please use my referral code WIris for 10% off of your purchase.

Last, but not least, the below image was taken with my old and trusted Canon 50mm lens. The adapter I purchased for the mirror-less Canon R5 works well with my old DSLR lenses.

Which of the 3 images is your favorite? I really don’t have a favorite, I like all of them for different reasons. The image with the macro lens gives you great details and close-up on the cereal. The image with the Lensbaby image gives a little focus on the O’s but everything else falls in to the background. And the image photographed with the 50mm lens gives you a wider angle of the entire scene, which I really like.

So next time you have a subject/set-up you really like, give different lenses a try to find out what you favorite outcome is. You might be surprised.

Until next time…

Iris
